Learn To Swim
As part of the curriculum every child at Waiau School has the opportunity to learn swimming & water safety skills. The teaching staff work alongside swimming instructors to support students skill development & learning.
After School & Summer Holiday programmes
Learn to Swim sessions for primary school students are available during the summer holidays and technique coaching is available for all ages throughout the season.
Developing water confidence, preparing for the school swimming programme, and having fun in the pool are the primary goals of the sessions.
Children`s swimming lessons are free to residents of Waiau & surrounding area and are run by Caroline Eastmond. Registration is required.
Adult water confidence and individual coaching is also available by arrangement.

Discover the benifits of AquaFitness
Aqua classes are a great way to mix up a traditional gym workout with the wondrous benefits of water. It only takes a few sessions for you to feel a positive difference in your overall fitness, and there are added bonuses when you exercise in water.
Classes operate three times weekly over summer and are available to all ages and abilities. This programme is supported by funding from the Community Response Committee and, aside from the cost of pool use, are free to residents of Waiau and surrounding areas.
As this is an adult programme children under the age of 14 are welcome with an adult in the water beside them.
Aqua Level 1
a moderately energetic fitness class, includes use of noodles for resistance, music, and fun.
Aqua Level 2
An energetic workout session which may include suspended and deep-water options.
Aqua X Train
A cross training class including Aqua circuits, use of resistance dumbbells, HIIT, aqua boxing, core strength training and more.
